Dengue cases cross 1 lakh mark

Dhaka, August 22: In 24 hours from 8 am on Sunday to 8 am on Monday, 2,197 new dengue patients were admitted to the hospital. With this, 1 lakh 2 thousand 191 dengue patients have been admitted to the hospital this year. The number of hospitalizations so far in August alone is more than 50,000.

In the last 24 hours, 872 people were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka, and 1,325 people were admitted to different hospitals outside Dhaka. At the same time, nine people died of dengue in one day.

This information was shared in a press release sent from the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday. It is said in the notification that at present, a total of 7,686 dengue patients are under treatment in various public and private hospitals of the country. There are currently 3,607 dengue patients admitted in public and private hospitals in Dhaka and 4,799 dengue patients in other hospitals.

This year, 1 lakh 2 thousand 191 patients have been admitted and treated in hospitals due to dengue infection across the country. Among them, 49,328 people received treatment in Dhaka and 52,863 people outside Dhaka.

Among the affected, 94,020 people have recovered from the hospital and returned home. Fourty-five thousand 358 in Dhaka and 48,662 outside Dhaka have recovered and returned home. 485 people have died due to dengue this year.
