Dengue claims 12 more lives, 2,711 hospitalized in one day

Dhaka, Augusgt 3: Twelve people died of dengue across the country in the last 24 hours till 8 am on Wednesday. With this, the number of people who have died due to dengue this year has reached 273. In addition, 2,711 people were newly admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours, which is the second highest in a single day this year. Earlier on Sunday, 2,731 people were admitted to hospitals in one day, which is the highest in one day this year.

This information was informed in the dengue report signed by Md. Zahidul Islam, in-charge of the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.

According to the DGHS, 2,711 people were admitted to various public and private hospitals of the country due to dengue infection from 8 am on Tuesday to 8 am on Wednesday. Among them 1,130 residents of Dhaka and 1,581 people outside Dhaka. Apart from that, all the 12 people who died in 24 hours are residents of Dhaka, according to the DGHS.

From January 1 to August 2 this year, 57,127 people were infected with dengue. Among them, 31,461 people are residents of Dhaka. Twenty-five thousand 666 people were admitted to hospitals outside Dhaka. At the same time, 47,529 people were discharged from the hospital. Among them 26,375 residents of Dhaka and 21,154 people outside Dhaka.

Earlier in the year 2022, 281 people died due to dengue in the history of the country. 27 people died of dengue in the last month of that year, December. At the same time, 62,382 people were admitted to hospitals due to dengue in the discussed year.

During the corona pandemic in 2020, dengue infection was not seen much, but in 2021, 28,429 people were infected with dengue throughout the country. In the same year, 105 people died due to dengue throughout the country.
