Dengue claims 14 lives in one day, 2,751 patients hospitalized

Dhaka, August 8: Fourteen people have died across the country in the last 24 hours till 8 am on Monday due to dengue. With this, the number of people who have died due to dengue this year has reached 327. In addition, 2,764 people were newly admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours. Earlier on Sunday, 2,764 people were admitted to the hospital in one day, which was the highest in one day this year.

This information was shared in the dengue report signed by Dr. Md. Zahidul Islam, in charge of the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday.

According to the DGHS, 2,751 people were admitted to various public and private hospitals of the country due to dengue from 8 am on Sunday to 8 am on Monday. Among them, 1,119 residents of Dhaka and 1,632 people outside Dhaka. Apart from this, 10 of the 14 people who died in 24 hours are residents of Dhaka. Four residents outside Dhaka.

From January 1 to August 7 this year, 69,483 people were infected with dengue. Among them 36,720 residents of Dhaka. Thirty-two thousand 763 people were admitted to hospitals outside Dhaka. At the same time, 59,584 people got discharge from the hospital.

Earlier in 2022, 281 people died due to dengue, the highest in the history of the country. Twenty-seven people died of dengue in the last month of that year. At the same time, 62,382 people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue in the year under discussion.
