Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 19 August 2023: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun has warned that attempts to create an unstable environment in the country will be suppressed with strong hands.

He gave this warning at a discussion meeting on the 48th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day at Rajarbagh Police Line on Saturday. Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) organized the meeting.

Meanwhile, the IGP said that those who will try to deteriorate the law and order situation of the country, will be properly suppressed with strict hands. One group wants to take the country in the opposite direction. The anti-independence people have always wanted to erase the name of Bangabandhu from the history of this country.

He also said that all measures will be taken to maintain a stable law and order situation in the country. Work will be done accordingly. At present, the anti-independence activists are carrying out various kinds of misdeeds. The police will play the same role with professionalism as per the law, just as the police have done their duty to resist them before. All members of the police are committed to resist those who create chaos in the country.

Professor Syed Anwar Hossain, Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud, Additional IGP (Administration) Md. Kamrul Ahsan, Additional IGP (Special Branch) Md. Monirul Islam also spoke on the occasion under the chairmanship of DMP Commissioner Khandaker Golam Farooq.
