Dhaka, July 30: The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has recommended extending the lockdown for 10 days after August 5 to prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection. Director General of the DGHS Prof. Dr. ABM Khurshid Alam said this on Friday afternoon.

"We recommended raising the restrictions at a cabinet meeting by ten days. Although no decision has been made yet," he said.

"The way the infection is growing, how do we handle this infection? Where to place patients? If the infection continues to grow in this way, is it impossible to handle the situation? There is no doubt that the situation will be very bad. With these considerations in mind, we have recommended increasing the restrictions," he added.

The restrictions started from July 23 at 6 am and will go on till August 5.

All types of passenger transport on roads, waterways and railways will be closed during the ban to prevent coronavirus infections and health risks.
