Dhaka-17 By-elections Dhaka-17 MP Arafat, wife meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
Dhaka, July 18: Mohammad Ali Arafat, the new Member of Parliament for Dhaka-17 Constituency, met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina the day after being elected.
On Tuesday (July 18) afternoon, he and his wife went to Ganabhaban and met the Prime Minister. Flowers were exchanged during this time.
Earlier on Monday (July 17) the by-election of Dhaka-17 constituencies was held. The ruling Awami League nominated candidate Mohammad Ali Arafat won.
He was elected privately by getting 28 thousand 816 votes in the boat symbol. His nearest rival, independent candidate Ashraful Hossain Alam aka Hero Alam, received 5 thousand 609 votes in Ektara symbol.
Accordingly, Arafat defeated Hero Alam by a margin of 23 thousand 207 votes.
