Dhaka flooded amid sudden rain

Dhaka, 13 August 2023 : After few days of rain, the city residents saw the sun on Saturday morning. The sky was clear till afternoon. Then in the evening the clouds started gathering.

At around 8:30 pm, torrential rain started. Although it started with light rain, the roads were washed away by heavy rain later. Ordinary people who return to office suffer at tis time of the day.

According to Koniba Meteorological Office, in the next 24 hours moderate rain may occur in different parts of the country, including Dhaka.

Along with that, there is a possibility of heavy rain at some places.

The axis of monsoon extends through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and northern parts of Bangladesh to Assam. An extension of it extends to the northern Bay of Bengal. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay of Bengal.

The forecast also said that there may be light to moderate rain with thundershowers with gusty winds temporarily in most places of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and many places in Rajshahi and Khulna divisions. Along with this, moderate to heavy rainfall may occur in some parts of the country. Day and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country.

Meanwhile, the weather forecast for the country's inland river ports says, over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet regions. There may be temporary rain or thundershower with gusty or wind speed of 45 to 60 km per hour from South or South-East direction. Ports in these areas have been asked to display signal number 1.
