Dhaka, June 22: The government has taken initiative to keep the capital Dhaka isolated from the rest of the country for nine days due to the increase in coronavirus infection. For this reason, lockdown have been imposed in seven districts of the country, including some districts bordering the capital, from 6 am on Tuesday (June 22). It will remain in effect until midnight on June 30 (Wednesday).

The districts are Manikganj, Munshiganj, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Rajbari, Madaripur and Gopalganj. Earlier, local administrations imposed strict restrictions in several districts of the country.

The directive issued by the government on Monday (June 21) said that no long-distance bus will leave or enter Dhaka. No train will stop from Dhaka to seven districts for the next nine days, while launch services to and from the capital have been stalled. In other words, the capital will be practically isolated from the rest of the country.

Health experts think that it is possible to protect Dhaka from the terrible outbreak of the coronavirus under such instructions of the government. According to members of the Department of Health's Public Health Advisory Committee and public health experts, bringing the districts around Dhaka under lockdown would be a good thing. If infected people from those districts are unable to move to other districts, including Dhaka, the rate of infection will begin to decline across the country. In this case, the affected people in the districts declared lockdown have to be identified and kept in isolation.

They said there may be no need for lockdown in Dhaka, but very strict restrictions should be imposed.

These include- stopping all traffic after dusk; Closing down hangouts in various places, including restaurants, tea stalls; At the same time, all kinds of events, starting from weddings, shoulbe be postponed in the convention centers for the time being.

"What we need most is to isolate as many patients as we can identify here. Infection will continue until we break the transmission chain. Eid al-Adha is approaching. On this occasion, strict restrictions should be imposed on animal markets. Our mayors need to be more proactive in these matters. Now the infection is less in Dhaka, but it is wrong to assume that the infection will not increase," experts said.
