Dhaka-Jalpaiguri Mitali Express inaugurated

Dhaka, March 26, 2021: The Prime Ministers of the two countries have inaugurated the Mitali Express train from Dhaka Cantonment to New Jalpaiguri, India.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the virtual train from Ganobhaban on Saturday evening.

The Mitali Express will run from Dhaka Cantonment to New Jalpaiguri two days a week. The train has 6 bogies and 456 seats. The whole train is air-conditioned. It will stop at Chilahati in North Bengal. As a result, passengers in North Bengal can easily use it.

Through this, the third passenger rail service between the two countries was inaugurated. Maitri Express and Bondhan Express are already running. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. Will leave Dhaka Cantonment on Mondays and Thursdays of the week. New Jalpaiguri will leave for Dhaka on Sunday and Wednesday.

Five MoUs were signed at a meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office on Saturday (March 26) evening. During this time several projects were inaugurated and 109 ambulances and 12 lakh corona vaccines were handed over. Narendra Modi arrived at the Prime Minister's Office at 5 pm on Saturday. He was received by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. After that, an hour-long meeting was held at the Prime Minister's Office between the representatives of the two countries.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Dhaka on a two-day visit to attend the birth centenary celebrations of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee celebrations of Bangladesh's independence.

He came to Dhaka on Friday and went to Fio on Saturday night.
