Dhaka, April 27: Police have rescued Jannat Ara Jharna, a resort partner of Mamunul Haque, the joint secretary general of the recently dissolved committee of Hefazat-e-Islam. A team from Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) Motijheel Division rescued Jharna from Mamunul Haque's sister Dilruba's house in Mohammadpur.

Confirming the matter on Tuesday (April 27) afternoon, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (DC) Motijheel Intelligence (DC) Asaduzzaman Ripon said, "Yesterday her father lodged a GD with Kalabagan police station. We helped her return to her family."

It is learned that the family has not been able to find her since the incident at the Royal Resort in Sonargaon, Narayanganj on April 3. Mamunul claimed Jharna as his second wife after the resort incident. To rescue her, Jharna's father Olier Rahman and eldest son Abdur Rahman Jami filed a general diary at two police stations in Dhaka.

On April 3, locals interrogated Mamunul Haque when he went to the Royal Resort in Narayanganj with Jharna. After the interrogation, Jharna spoke randomly and identified herself as Amina Taiyeba. She also claimed that her home was in Khulna and her father's name was Jahidul Islam.

However, Jharna told the police her real name and address that night. The Hefazat leader and Jharna were rescued from the embarrassing situation that night by the local workers of the organization. But since then no trace of her was found.
