Dhaka records its lowest temperature in 2021

Dhaka, February 2: The lowest temperature of this season is being felt in different parts of the country. A severe cold wave is sweeping across the country. Divisional cities, including Dhaka, recorded the lowest temperature of the year on Monday (February 1). The temperature in Dhaka was 10 degrees Celsius, which was 11.7 degrees Celsius on Sunday. The temperature is likely to continue for the next two days, the Meteorological Department said.

According to the department, the lowest temperature in the country was 5.5 degrees Celsius in Srimangal on Monday and 5.5 degrees Celsius in Rajarhat in Rangpur division on Sunday, which is the lowest of the season. Earlier, on December 19, the minimum temperature in Rajarhat was 6.6 degrees Celsius.

Today, the lowest temperature in the country is in Srimangal but in Chuadanga it is 5.7 degrees Celsius.

Rajarhat, Rajshahi, Bogra, Ishwardi and Syedpur are in 6 degrees. Faridpur, Gopalganj, Madaripur, Comilla, Badalgachhi, Tarash, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Tentulia, Dimla, Jessore and Barisal are in 7 degrees. Tangail, Nikli, Mymensingh, Netrokona, Kumarkhali and Bhola are in 8 degrees.

Rangamati, Feni, Satkhira, Khulna, Patuakhali and Khepupara are within 9 degrees. Sandwip, Hatia, Chandpur, Sylhet and Mongla including the capital Dhaka in the middle of 10 degrees.

Meanwhile, severe cold wave over Nilphamari, Chuadanga and Moulvibazar districts and mild to moderate cold wave over Sitakunda, Rangamati, Comilla, Feni, Sandwip and Hatia areas including Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions. This may continue for a few more days.

Meteorologist Abdur Rahman said, "This is the lowest temperature this winter. Earlier, the temperature was close to that in December,” he said, adding that the situation could continue for the next two days. The day after tomorrow the temperature may rise slightly.
