Dhaka road accident kills couple

Dhaka, January 18: A couple riding a motorcycle was killed in a bus crash in the airport area of the capital. The accident took place around 8 am on Monday (January 18). The deceased were identified as Akash Iqbal, 33, and Maya Hazarika, 25.

They lived in the Mollarteke area south of the capital. Police recovered their bodies and sent them to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital for autopsy.

Airport Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Mashiul Alam said Akash Iqbal left for the office on a motorcycle with his wife Maya Hazarika in the morning. When they reached in front of the Padma Well Gate of the airport, a bus of Ajmeri Transport crushed them. They died on the spot.

He added that the deadly bus was seized. However, the bus driver and helper escaped. The body has been sent to the morgue of Dhamek Hospital for autopsy.

Meanwhile, a young man named Main Uddin Mohan (32) was killed in a motorcycle accident on the slope of Postagola Bridge in the capital's Keraniganj on Sunday (January 17) evening. His friend Sams Arefin Sohail (32) was injured in the incident. The accident took place when the motorcycle lost control on the way back from Mawa in Munshiganj.

The two were taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Main Uddin was rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) at around 9:15 pm. The on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Another friend of the deceased, Abdur Razzak, said that Main Uddin and Sams Arefin went to a friend's house in Mawa. On the way back from there, they lost control on the slope of Postagola Bridge and got into an accident. Main Uddin died at Dhamek Hospital. Sams Arefin is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Keraniganj.

The deceased Main Uddin lived with his family in Matuail area of ​​Jatrabari. He used to work in a private company.
