Dhaka, June 19, 2022: Dhaka-Sylhet rail communication has become normal due to water receding from the station.

The train started plying on this route at around 12:55 pm on Sunday. Earlier, rail communication was suspended due to flood waters at the station.

Sylhet Railway Station Master. Mizanur Rahman Mizan said the Parabat train, which left Dhaka at 2pm on Sunday, entered the platform of Sylhet Railway Station. The train left for Dhaka at 3:45 pm.

He further said that now the power supply in the railway station is not normal. The generator is currently running.

Station manager Nurul Islam said the Sylhet railway station was closed on Saturday as the railway line was submerged due to steep slopes and heavy rains. However, due to low water level, rail communication with Dhaka was resumed on Sunday (June 19). Khairul Kabir, divisional transport officer of the railways, said the flood waters on the Dhaka-Sylhet railway line have receded somewhat. As a result, the use of 3 lines has become useful.

Earlier, a flood situation was created in Sylhet from Wednesday. On Thursday, it took a terrible turn. The water started rising rapidly from this afternoon. This caused water to rise in most parts of the city, including railway stations and airports. On Friday afternoon, all types of flights were declared closed at Osmani International Airport.
