Dhaka wears a deserted look after Eid

Dhaka, July 11: On the second day of Eid-ul-Azha, Dhaka, the city of traffic jams, is now very empty. The busy roads of Dhaka seem to be deserted. Numerous people have left the capital for Eid holidays. Noise has decreased everywhere in the mahallas, markets and roads. This is like a different city. The city busy with Eid joy is now empty. There is no traffic pressure on the road. Decreased noise, civic engagement. Sometimes one or two cars are seen.

On Monday (July 11), the image was seen on the roads of Mirpur, Agargaon, Farmgate, Tejgaon, Asadgate, Sangsad area and Dhanmondi. However, some traffic jams have been noticed at long distance bus stands.

It has been seen on the ground in these areas that a kind of silence has been created in the busy city of Dhaka. Very few private vehicles, public transport, CNG-powered autorickshaws, rickshaws and other types of transport are plying on the road. As there is no traffic jam on the main roads of Dhaka, these transports have been seen moving at high speed.

Robin lives permanently in Mirpur, Dhaka. Although the animal was sacrificed on Sunday (July 10), he went out in a private car on Monday to deliver the meat of the sacrificial animal to a relative's house.

He said, I went out in a private car at 10 am to offer sacrificial meat to my relatives. I reached my relative's house in Segunbagicha in 15 minutes. From there I was able to reach the house of some other relatives in the vicinity by 12 o'clock.

He said there is no traffic jam in the capital as most of the people in the city go home on Eid. That is why it is becoming possible to drive fast. Such a situation exists only one day before Eid or three or four days after Eid.

Aniruddha, a traffic sergeant on duty in front of Mirpur Bangla College, said the traffic congestion has decreased since the day before Eid. Such a situation will be seen in three to four more days. Then again traffic jams and busyness will be created as before.

He said that if there is less traffic on the road, the car moves very fast. At this time many young boys were seen driving motorcycles and private cars at high speed. That is why accidents often happen. However, no such incident took place in Mirpur this Eid.
