DMP arrests 303 people for venturing out during ongoing lockdown on Sunday

Dhaka, August 2: On the tenth day of the strict restrictions, 303 more people were arrested in Dhaka for disobeying the instructions. Besides, 103 individuals and organizations have been fined Tk 1,16,100 by mobile courts.

Iftekhairul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of the Media and Public Relations Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said this on Sunday (August 1) night.

He said 303 people have been arrested in Ramna, Lalbagh, Motijheel, Wari, Tejgaon, Mirpur, Gulshan and Uttara areas of the eight divisions of the DMP since Sunday morning.

Besides, the DMP-run mobile court and the traffic department have filed a case against 183 vehicles for leaving their homes without emergency work. Besides, Tk 4,45,500 rupees has been fined.

ADC Iftekhairul Islam said law enforcement forces were active across the capital, ignoring the rains to ensure strict restrictions to prevent corona infection.

Earlier on Friday, 481 people were arrested by the police for disobeying government instructions. A total of 202 individuals and organizations were fined Tk 2,06,710 by the mobile courts. Besides, the traffic department imposed a fine of Tk 10.45 lakh on 440 vehicles.
