DMP arrests 566 people in Dhaka on the fourth day of the ongoing hard lockdown

Dhaka, July 27: On the fourth day of the ongoing hard lockdown, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 566 people for violating government's Covid-19 rules. At the same time 164 individuals and organizations were fined Tk 1,26,200 by the mobile court.

The traffic department also imposed a fine of Tk 10,22,000 on 443 vehicles. A total of 1,939 people have been arrested in the capital in four days. On Monday (July 26), eight divisions of the DMP took legal action against these individuals on the fourth day of the two-week hard lockdown.

The information was confirmed by Iftekhairul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of the DMP's Media and Public Relations Department. "A total of 164 individuals and organizations were fined Tk 1,26,200 for leaving the house in the capital unjustifiably and on various pretexts and for keeping the shops open even in lockdown."

On the third day of the lockdown, 587 people were arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) for disobeying Covid-19 norms. The mobile courts fined 233 individuals and organizations a total of Tk 1,00,950. Besides, the traffic department imposed a fine of Tk 12.72 lakh on 521 vehicles.
