Dhaka Domestic worker dies of 'torture' in Dhaka's Central Road: Housewife absconding
Dhaka, August 28: The police have filed a case as a plaintiff in the death of an unidentified domestic worker due to torture by a housewife in a house on Central Road of Kalabagan police station in the capital. The case was filed at Kalabagan police station on Sunday night.
Kalabagan police station OC Mohammad Saiful Islam said that the police are making every effort to identify the identity of the slain maid. But as his identity was not identified till Sunday night, we ourselves filed a murder case.
He also said that the plaintiff in the case is Kalabagan police station SI Babul Hossain. Housewife Sathi Akhtar Parveen (Dolly) has been accused. She has been absconding since the incident. Efforts are underway to identify her location and arrest her.
It is to be noted that Sathi Akhtar Parveen lived with her child and the maid in flat E-1 on the second floor of building No. 77 of Kalabagan Central Road. The deceased maid was working in the house for the last three years. Police believe that the child domestic worker (10) was often tortured in that house. The child domestic worker was also tortured last Friday morning. After the minor died, Sathi fled, leaving her mobile phone at the flat. The police recovered the body of the child from the house on Saturday morning.
After recovering the body, the police found that there were many new and old injury marks on the body of the deceased. Foam at the mouth, swelling of the body.
OC Saiful Islam said, "We have found out that accused Sathi Akhter Parveen has married twice. First husband's name is Mamun. He is a driver by profession. He has a daughter at home. After divorcing with him, she married a doctor. Divorced with him in 2020. She has been living in the flat since 2016 under the identity of her last husband. After the divorce, Sathi's husband left Dhaka and he now lives in Jessore. We contacted the doctor husband of Sathi and found out that since the divorce, he no longer comes to this house. After divorcing him, Sathi brought the maid to home.
Officials related to the investigation said, after analyzing the CCTV footage, it was found that Sathi Akhtar walked out with his child at 9:04 am on Friday. After five minutes, she came back again at 9:09. Later after eight minutes she left again and did not return.
