Dhaka, May 22: Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has said the US doesn't inform before puttinng sanctions on other countries, so he's unsure if Washington DC will slap Dhaka with it.

This was said by Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen during a press conference on Prime Minister's visit to Qatar in the conference room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday (May 22) morning.

He said, "The information given in a report by a daily newspaper is false information. It says that I worked as a lobbyist in a Chinese company before becoming a minister. It is completely false. Rather, you can say that I have been in the United States all my life and worked there."

In response to a question about US sanctions, the minister said, "I don't know if the US sanctions will come or not. They don't say anything. The agriculture minister also said that there is no reason for sanctions in the country. It will be sad if it happens. The US is giving thousands of sanctions. I hope they have good sense. It will emerge. A representative from the United States came recently and their statement was very positive. We are not aware of the information you have given in that regard."

When asked about the US embassy issuing a travel warning to citizens, he said, "It is very sad. Elections will be held in the country seven-eight months from now. Ask them why they have issued this warning. There is no killing in our country, no one is shot dead. No. Why would people here be mad at American citizens? I don't know why they did it."

The minister said, "Our law and order situation is so good that the police arrest criminals immediately when there is an incident. They are doing a very good job. There is no reason that violence will happen in our country. Rather, some should be warned when they go to the United States. Be careful when visiting shopping malls, schools or bars in the US."
