Driving License Dope test certificate needed to get professional driving licence
Dhaka, January 14, 2022: Professional motor vehicle drivers will have to submit dope test certificate from the government hospital along with the application form during the issue and renewal of driving license.
The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) on Thursday (January 13th) issued such a circular.
It said that in order to implement the directive of the Prime Minister, from January 30, professional motorists will have to submit the dope test certificate issued by the government hospital along with the application form for the issue and renewal of driving license. Professional driving license cannot be issued / renewed if the dope test certificate is positive (if any signs of drug use are found) or if there are any adverse comments in it.
The dope tests were conducted at government hospitals at all levels across the country and at six institutions in the Dhaka metropolis [Dhaka Medical College Hospital, National Institute of Mental Health and Hospital, National Institute of Laboratory Medicine and Referral Center, National Chest Diseases Institute and Hospital, National Orthopedic Hospital and ) And Kurmitola General Hospital].
The circular further said that in order to dope test the professional motor vehicle drivers should send a letter from the concerned circle office of BRTA requesting in the prescribed form (Appendix-C) of the concerned hospital / institution. The hospital / institution conducting the dope test will send the dope test certificate online (e-mail / electronic method) to the concerned BRTA Assistant Director (Eng.) / Licensing Authority and hand over the original to the candidate. Candidates will submit the dope test certificate attached to the application form during the issue / renewal of professional driving license. The relevant Assistant Director (Eng.) / Licensing Authority of BRTA will take the necessary action after verifying the dope test certificate online.
