Dozens injured as Sonar Bangla express rams into freight train from behind

Dhaka, April 17: Seven coaches of the Sonar Bangla Express derailed after colliding with a freight train at Nangalkot in Comilla. More than 50 people were injured in this incident.

The station master is absconding since the incident. The accident took place when the Sonar Bangla Express train hit from behind a freight car standing in Hasanpur railway station area of the upazila around 6:30 pm on Sunday.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Laksam Railway Police Station Jasim Udni Chowdhury said this. Moukra Union Parishad Chairman Saifuddin Alamgir said from the scene, "At least seven compartments of Sonar Bangla Express have been twisted and twisted. However, no railway official was seen at the spot. Station Master Sohag left his workplace and ran away. Later we started the rescue operation with the locals."

He also said that those who were injured were rescued and given first aid and sent to Nangalkot Upazila Health Complex and Comilla Medical College Hospital. However, none of them were found to be dangerous.
