Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 9: Minister for Road Transport and Bridges and Awami League General Secretary, Obaidul Quader, has urged all drivers to drive carefully during Eid to keep the journey safe and uninterrupted. He made the call at a press conference at his residence on Friday.

Obaidul Quader said millions of people are rushing to the villages at the same time due to lack of public holidays this Eid. "I urge all drivers to drive carefully to keep the journey safe and uninterrupted."

He said that the safety of life should be given priority and the rules of the highway should be followed. Everyone must be safe from unintended accidents.

Calling for immediate closure of truck-covered vans except for emergency and export goods, the Road Transport Minister said that the concerned people will monitor the area of all the sacrificial animal markets along the highway to avoid traffic jams.

Calling on everyone to wear masks during the Eid procession, Obaidul Quader said the biggest challenge in this year's Eid procession is the growing corona infection, slight indifference and neglect of hygiene can lead to catastrophic disasters. So everyone should wear a mask and take the utmost care in transportation, Eid holidays and on the return journey.

He said that the slightest negligence can cause immense damage to the whole family, so everyone should take utmost care including wearing a mask.

Obaidul Quader said that the traffic was slowing down for a short period of time due to the slow movement of the animal carriage and it was damaged on the way.

He also called upon all including highway police, district police, district administration, transport, owners and workers to intensify their efforts to ensure uninterrupted Eid procession.
