DU student abducted on her way to Sajek

Dhaka, 6 September 2023 : A student of Dhaka University (DU) named Dipita Chakma has been abducted on her way to Sajek in Baghaichhari Upazila of Rangamati.

Miscreants abducted the girl from Zero Mile near Ruiluipara tourist center in Sajek around 1 pm on Wednesday.

Kidnapped Deepita Chakma is a resident of Khagrachari Sadar. She is a post graduate student of public administration department of DU.

It is learned that Deepita Chakma was abducted by miscreants from the Zero Mile area on her way to Sajek with her friends. Later, when his friends informed the law and order forces about the matter, the army, BGB and other law and order forces started to rescue her.

Sajek Union Parishad Chairman Atulal Chakma confirmed the matter and said that a while back a tourist was abducted from a place called Zero Mile. However, it is not possible to say who or who caused this incident. Law enforcement agencies are looking into the matter.

Rahul Chakma John, organizing secretary of Sajek Resort Cottage Owners Association, said that a tourist has been kidnapped. The issue is still not clear to everyone. Law and order forces have started working. Details about this will be given later.

Rangamati Superintendent of Police Mir Abu Tauhid said that shortly before 1:00 p.m., on the way to Sajek, some miscreants stopped the car and abducted the girl.

"Our campaign is underway. We hope to rescue the girl soon," he said.

Baghaichhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rumana Akhter said, "We are looking at the issue of girl child abduction with utmost importance. We are in constant touch with Baghaihat zone. BGB, army and law enforcement forces have already started an operation to rescue the student. We hope that he will be rescued soon."
