EC announces schedule for Mymensingh City election, Comilla City by-polls

Dhaka, Jan 22: The Election Commission (EC) on Monday (Jan 22) announced the date for the Mymensingh City Corporation elections and Comilla City by-polls. Mymensingh City Corporation Election and Comilla City Mayoral By-election will be held on March 9.

Election Commissioner Anisur Rahman told reporters at the election building on Monday that voting will be held through Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) in both city corporations. Polling will be held on March 9 from 8 am to 4 pm.

Mymensingh City Corporation polls were held for the first time in 2019. Ikramul Haque Titu was elected mayor unopposed.

Mymensingh City has 33 general wards and 11 reserved wards. In this city there were total 127 centres in the first (2019) city polls.

Speaking on the upazila parishad election, Anisur Rahman said that this time also the upazila parishad election will be held in five stages. The EC has plans to conduct the first phase of elections in April.
