Dhaka, October 15: The Election Commission (EC) has filed a case against Faridpur-4 MP Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury Nixon for allegedly violating the code of conduct. Nawabul Islam, the district's senior election officer, filed the case with the Charbhadrasan police station around 10am on Thursday (October 15).

Charbhadrasan Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazneen Khanam confirmed the matter.

Earlier on Wednesday (October 14th), after a meeting with law enforcement on the Dhaka-5 and Dhaka-17 constituencies, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said the EC and a three-member inquiry committee would file a case against Nixon for illegal conduct.

An audio of a conversation between Nixon Chowdhury and Charbhadrasan Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jasmine Sultana went viral during the by-election for the post of Charbhadrasan Upazila Parishad chairman in Faridpur on Saturday (October 10th).

After the election, a victory rally was held at the local Awami League office in Charbhadrasan Upazila Sadar.

There, MP Nixon Chowdhury warned Deputy Commissioner Atul Sarkar.

Addressing DC, he said, "If I go down with the leaders and workers, you will not get a chance to breathe for a minute."

However, Nixon Chowdhury said the voice heard in the audio was not his, during a press conference held later.
