Dhaka, January 20: Election Commissioner Rasheda Sultana said that the election environment will be developed by observing the code of conduct. However, if the election environment is not developed, if it seems that there is a disruption in the polling, then the polling will be stopped at the stage where the disruption occurs. The Election Commission (EC) has not surrendered to anyone on the issue of Gaibandha. A couple of isolated incidents did not collapse the entire electoral system. The Election Commission is ready to conduct polls in 300 seats.

She said these in response to a question from journalists after exchanging views with the candidates participating in the by-elections of Chapainawabganj-2 (Gomstapur, Nachol, Bholahat) and Chapainawabganj-3 (Sadar) constituencies at the Chapainawabganj District Commissioner's office on Thursday.

Regarding EVMs, the Election Commissioner said that distrust has arisen among some political parties regarding EVMs. However, no incident has happened to bring distrust with EVMs. Urging BNP to participate in the elections, she said, you should participate in the elections. A competitive and competitive election will be held with your participation. We want BNP to participate in the elections.

She assured the voters that the EC has taken all measures to make the by-elections fair and impartial and there is no cause for fear. Discussions have been held with the law enforcement agencies. Police, RAB, BGB will work to maintain orderly environment. They will try to ensure that the law and order situation is not disturbed in any way. So that the situation like stoppage of election is not created in any way. We hope there will be a fair and impartial vote.

Rasheda Sultana said that one or two of the candidates for the two seats in Chapainawabganj have expressed their fears. They have been assured to hold fair elections. Polling will be held in a peaceful environment with the cooperation of the administration and law enforcement forces, Inshallah.

It is to be noted that BNP MP Harunur Rashid resigned from Chapainawabganj-3 (Sadar) and Aminul Islam, BNP MP from Chapainawabganj-2 (Nachol-Gomstapur-Bholahat), 2 seats were declared vacant. Later, the election commission announced the by-election schedule.
