Educational institutions unlikely to reopen next month

Dhaka, October 22: As the coronavirus epidemic is showing no signs of dying down, the closure of the educational institution will be further increased keeping in mind the safety and security of the students.

Sources in the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education said on Thursday that the educational institution was not going to open as the situation was not normal yet. In this situation, online, television and radio teaching activities of the students will continue.

In this regard, Akram Al Hossain, senior secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, said that the environment for opening educational institutions has not been created yet. So they have to increase the vacation. The decision will be announced on October 29.

Syed Golam Farooq, director general of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, said the leave for educational institutions may increase, but it has not yet been decided how long it will last. He said that the Ministry of Education will inform about this soon.

All educational institutions in the country have been closed since March 18 due to coronavirus. In this situation, the final, JSC and HSC examinations have already been canceled. The annual examination of the students has also been canceled.

The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has formulated a syllabus that can be completed within 30 working days due to long-term educational institutions and scheduled holidays in the Corona situation, as the annual secondary examination will not be held on Wednesday (October 21).

The teaching of short syllabus will start from November.

The short syllabus will be completed within 30 working days.

Students will be passed on to the next class through assessment on its basis.

Students will be able to enroll in new classes from next January.

However, if a student has a particular weakness in the assessment, it will be given special consideration in the next class.

And the class teachers will take effective steps to overcome their weakness.

The heads of the institutions will be instructed in that regard.
