Own Correspondent, Dhaka, May 4: Eid-ul-Fitr prayers have been held at Tentultala ground in Kalabagan of the capital.

Eid prayers were held on Tuesday (May 3) at 8 am at Tentultala ground. Thousands of devotees perform Eid prayers in congregation here.

Speaking to the worshipers who took part in the Eid Jamaat, it is learned that the Eid Jamaat was closed in the field for two years due to Corona pandemic. If the police station building was constructed here, there would never have been an Eid congregation here.

AKM Kamruzzaman, who is involved in organizing Eid Jamaat at the ground, said, "We are very happy that the ground has been opened for children. After all, we are happy to have the Eid congregation in this ground."

After the Eid Jamaat, another worshiper said, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has re-allocated the ground to us. The ground is now more permanent than ever for the locals. Just like the children play in the ground, various social and religious events are organized in this ground."

The worshipers further said that everyone in the area is happy that the ground has been vacated. This time a record number of worshipers have participated in the Eid Jamaat in this ground. Earlier, so many people did not perform Eid Jamaat together in this ground.

A police station building was to be constructed at Tentultala ground in Kalabagan area of the capital. However, the locals had been protesting for a long time demanding protection of the ground. On April 24, Kalabagan police arrested Syeda Ratna while she was going live on Facebook against the construction works.

Her son was also arrested. After being detained at the police station for 13 hours, they were released on bond at midnight that day. On April 28, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told the Secretariat that there would be no building at the Tentultala ground in Kalabagan. The ground will remain as it was. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given this directive.
