Eid-ul-Azha: 100% waste removal in DSCC area in 11.5 hours

Dhaka, June 30: Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) said that 100 percent of the waste of the first day's sacrificial animals was removed in 11 and a half hours.

Since Thursday morning, devout worshipers performed animal sacrifice despite the rain. After that, before noon, many people fill bags of animal waste at the designated place. The two mayors inaugurated the official program of waste removal at noon. Later, the cleaners of the city corporation started removing the animal waste.

Public relations officer of DSCC Abu Nacher said that 100% waste of sacrificial animals has been removed from all the wards of South City Corporation. At 1:25 pm, all the wastes of the sacrificial animals of the first day were removed in the last 39 wards.

He said that the program started at 2 pm and ended at 1:30 am. In 11 and a half hours, it was possible to remove all the waste of the sacrificial animals of the first day.

It is known that the Eid leave of the waste management department workers of two cities has been canceled to remove the waste of sacrificial animals as soon as possible. The two city authorities have opened a hotline for prompt and timely disposal of waste and have provided around 1.1 million plastic and polybags for waste disposal.

Earlier, Dhaka North City Corporation Authority (DNCC) claimed that 100% of the sacrificial waste was removed in 8 hours. Maqbul Hossain, public relations officer of DNCC, said that the waste removal program started from 2 pm to 9:30 pm and in less than 8 hours, 100 percent waste removal was completed in all the wards. Around 14 thousand 500 tons of waste was removed in 2 thousand 713 trips till 9:30 pm on the day of Eid in 10 regions of DNCC.
