Ekushey Book Fair Ekushey Book Fair extended by two days
Dhaka, Feb 28: The time of Ekushey Book Fair-2024 has been extended by two days. The fair will also be held on March 1 and 2 (Friday-Saturday).
Culture Ministry Secretary Khalil Ahmad confirmed this information to the media on Tuesday night.
He said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has approved the application to extend the book fair by two days. So the book fair will continue till March 2.
Bangla Academy Director General Muhammad Nurul Huda announced the extension of the fair from the announcement center at around 9 pm.
He said, "With the kind consent of the Prime Minister, the book fair has been extended by two days."
Earlier, on February 18, the Bangladesh Booksellers Association wrote to Bangla Academy to extend the time of the book fair by two days.
The letter read, "Due to rain problems and the preparation of the fairgrounds, the publishers participating in the fair could not start selling properly on the first three days of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair. Because of that many people are financially damaged. I am requesting to extend the time of Amar Ekushey Book Fair for two days as it is Friday and Saturday on March 1 and 2."
