Elections: Decision on seat sharing in a few days

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 6 December 2023: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that there must be an agreement with the 14-party alliance regarding participation in the elections. According to the expectations and reality of the 14 parties, the decision regarding seat sharing will be announced within the next few days.

He said these things in a briefing at the Dhanmondi political office of the Awami League president on Tuesday, December 5 at noon.

Obaidul Quader said that political discussion is more important than seat sharing with 14 parties. Everyone views the news in the current context, told what to do. 14 parties will fight unitedly to counter the conspiracy that is happening in the country and abroad. In response to a question, Obaidul Quader said that it is important to keep the spirit and win the election. We talked in a very cordial atmosphere. The political issue has been discussed more. Basically everyone was interested to hear the 14-party alliance chief.

He said that our meeting with 14 parties is more about political differences than seat sharing. We are giving importance to the political issue. Sometimes we have meetings with 14 teams, yesterday too. There has been more political discussion.

Awami League General Secretary said, fourteen parties will fight unitedly against the conspiracy that is going on in the country and abroad today. The unity of the 14-party alliance will strengthen that unity and fight.

He also said that many independent candidates have stood everywhere. We must have an agreement with the 14 parties. The seat issue will be clear within these days.

Obaidul Quader said about the seat expectations of the 14-party alliance, what is the expectation of the 14-party alliance, and what is the reality of how many they will get, we will decide together. Some of them might do it by boat. But other candidates will be elected by many on their own brands.

Alliance leader and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina held a meeting with top leaders of 14 parties at Ganobhaban on Monday (December 4) evening. There, a committee of four members was formed to distribute the seats of the 14 participating parties in the 12th National Assembly elections. The members of the committee are Awami League advisory council member and 14-party alliance coordinator Amir Hossain Amu, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak and joint general secretary Bahauddin Nashim.
