Dhaka, March 12: Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has said that elections will be held in time as per the constitution while asking the BNP to not make any demands in this regard.

Referring to Khaleda Zia's demand for elections under the BNP's non-partisan government, the Awami League general secretary said, "Khaleda Zia had said that no one neutral apart from the mad and young. The idea of a caretaker government is absurd."

Obaidul Quader made the remarks at a regular briefing at his official residence on Friday (March 12th) morning.

Obaidul Quader said that Sheikh Hasina has the honest courage to accept the people in the election. In the BNP's aimless and wrong politics, the workers are now angry with their leaders. The color of the BNP movement is not unknown to the people of this country. Unable to find any suitable issue, the BNP is trying to heat up the field with a trivial issue.

It is just an attempt to quell the accumulated anger of the workers against the seasonal shouts of the BNP movement.

The government has enacted the Digital Security Act to retain power, said Obaidul Quader, referring to the BNP leaders' statement. The owner of power is the creator and the people of the country. The government enacts any law in the public interest. There are legal frameworks for digital security in different countries of the world. Freedom of expression does not mean depriving others of their rights, nor does it mean writing or speaking at will. The law is not a barrier if there is truth and objectivity in speaking or writing. Even then, the Sheikh Hasina government has already given strict instructions so that the law is not misapplied.

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said the BNP has lost the character of a political party and has now become a rumor party. Rumors and propaganda are their only hope, which is why the BNP opposes the Digital Security Act and opposes modern technology. It is the nature of the BNP to run propaganda and hide itself from the people. So the people have turned away from the BNP.

He said Sheikh Hasina sees running the government as a sacred duty of public service and national service. In the end, power for the BNP means plundering the resources of the country and the people. The BNP is an object of power. That is why the cup of enjoyment overflowed during their time.
