Dhaka, July 10: Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that the European Union (EU) has not expressed any concern about the elections. He said this in response to reporters' questions after a meeting with European Union (EU) Ambassador Charles Whiteley at the Secretariat on Monday (July 10).

When asked whether the European Union has expressed any concern about the upcoming elections, Obaidul Quader said that they have not expressed any concern. They hope for the best. Didn't say anything bad. They want a peaceful and credible election in Bangladesh. It was discussed that the democracy of Bangladesh should become stronger and mature.

He said, "We mainly talked about the elections. We talked about the progress of relations with our friendly countries in the European Union. It also included the ongoing world situation. There will be a free and fair election. I told them that. Sheikh Hasina's government will continue to work regularly. . This government will assist the Election Commission during elections. The government party will then only do routine work, as is the case in other democratic countries."

"I have conveyed our views on this to the EU ambassador. We had a good discussion with them. The discussion was very successful and meaningful," he said.

When asked if the European Union had any recommendations on the elections, he said, "We said if they want to provide observers, they are welcome. They will come, our guests. Those who will observe the elections, a diplomat will work from within his own jurisdiction. 41 There are principles of the Vienna Convention. They will perform their duty within those principles. There is no question of our having any objection here. Observers from different countries will see on the ground how the elections are being conducted. There will be no room for arguments on this."

On whether there was any discussion about bringing the centers under CCTV, he said, "There was no detailed discussion. A team of six of them has come. They will discuss the details. They will also sit with the team on July 15."

"Caretaker government, the dissolution of parliament, the resignation of the prime minister were not discussed with the European representatives. However, the development of the government was discussed," Quader added.

When asked whether they have said anything about bringing BNP to the polls, the minister said, "No. Why should we say that? It is up to them what they request."
