Own Correspondent, Dhaka, June 14: ‘We have forgotten the memories, traditions and traces of the great liberation war. For this reason, the anti-consciousness evil forces of the liberation war are raising the hood again. In order to break their poisonous teeth, one has to listen to the proclamation of independence by MA Hannan on behalf of Bangabandhu from the independent Bengali revolutionary radio station on e-wire. But sadly our next generation still does not know how the war of liberation started. We could not give them the lesson.'

Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League acting president Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury said this at a discussion meeting on Monday (June 12) afternoon. The discussion meeting was organized by Chittagong Metropolitan North and South Awami League on the occasion of 48th death anniversary of MA Hannan at Bangabandhu Hall of Chittagong Press Club.

Chittagong North District Awami League president Abdus Salam said, "We have to move forward remembering the contribution of late MA Hannan. He was from Kushtia. He loved Chittagong and called for independence on behalf of Bangabandhu."

AJM Nasir Uddin, general secretary of Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League and former city mayor, said, “The message of Bangabandhu's declaration of independence was conveyed to the world by late MA Hannan from Swadhin Bangla Biplobi Betar Kendra. We have to accept this fact. If this fact had been recognized in the parliament of independent Bangladesh, then history would not have been distorted."

Chittagong South District Awami League general secretary Mofizur Rahman said, "I never saw MA Hannan from close. But I have heard a lot about him. I feel him in my heart. His memory is in the pages of history. He must be kept alive."
