Dhaka, July 5: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader condemned and protested BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's statement in a statement.

In the statement, Obaidul Quader said that Mirza Fakhrul's statement under the title 'No more time, government's time is over' is not only unconstitutional but also treasonous. BNP is traditionally an anti-democratic and conspiratorial political party. They use unconstitutional means to seize power through conspiracies. Neither Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir nor BNP has the authority to determine the term or deadline of a democratically elected government. Who is he to determine the time of the government?

Awami League General Secretary said, BNP, desperate to seize power, has hired a lobbyist firm by spending millions of dollars hoping to gain the mercy of foreign masters. They look forward to what their foreign masters have to say about the elections. BNP has lost faith in the people of the country by being continuously rejected by the people. Supported by foreign masters, they are setting their political agenda. As a result, BNP could never adopt the policy of public welfare and the people did not respond to their call.

He also said in the statement that BNP leaders do not like the word democracy. BNP came to power and subverted the country's democracy, creating the worst example of vote theft. The countrymen have not forgotten the mismanagement and corruption during the BNP era. BNP came to power in 2001 and persecuted the minorities in a hellish manner, setting a historical precedent for suppressing dissent. 24 thousand Awami League leaders and activists were killed across the country. The people of Bangladesh do not want to go back to those dark times.

Obaidul Quader said that the people of the country have repeatedly considered leader Sheikh Hasina's leadership as safe for their development and prosperity. The government under the leadership of People's Leader Sheikh Hasina has always prioritized the principle of public welfare and taken timely steps. To continue this trend of development and progress, the people of Bangladesh will again vote in favor of Awami League in the next election, inshallah.
