Father-son among six killed in separate road accidents in Mymensingh

Dhaka, June 10: Six people, including a father and son, were killed in separate road accidents in Mymensingh. The accident took place on Wednesday (June 9) in Rashidpur of Sadar upazila and Satrashia area of Muktagachha.

The deceased were identified as Bablu Mia, 42, son of Abdul Aziz of Dharmapasha upazila in Sunamganj. Ripon Mia, 30, son of Karim Mia of Mohanganj upazila in Netrokona; Ripon's son Abid Hasan, 10; Rita Akhter, 21, wife of Zahirul Islam of Ujanghagara area of Dapunia union of Mymensingh Sadar upazila; Aminul Islam, 35, son of Abdul Khaleq of the same village; And Tanvir, 8, son of Abdul Motaleb.

Kotwali Model Police Station OC (Investigation) Faruk Hossain said a Mymensingh-bound CNG leaving from Shyamganj collided with a Netrokona-bound bus at Rashidpur in Shambhuganj area around 3pm on Wednesday. Bablu and Ripon died on the spot. Three people, including a woman and a child, were injured.

Locals rescued the injured and sent them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Ripon's son Abid Hasan died at the hospital around 8.30 pm. He also said that legal action will be taken in this regard.

Meanwhile, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Muktagachha Model Police Station Dulal Akand said a Mymensingh-bound bus leaving Bogra this afternoon collided head-on with a battery-powered autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction when it reached Satrashia Bazar area.

When five passengers of the autorickshaw were injured, the locals rescued them and sent them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Three people, including a woman and a child, died while undergoing treatment there. He said the bus escaped but the driver escaped.
