Female doctor's body with slit throat recovered from hotel in Dhaka's Panthapath

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, August 11: The police have recovered the body of a female doctor with her throat slit from a residential hotel in the capital's Panthpath.

The deceased's has been identified as Jannatul Naeem Siddique (27), who had recently passed her MBBS.

She passed MBBS from Moghbazar Community Medical College Hospital and was studying a course in Women and Gynecology at Dhaka Medical College (DMH) Hospital.

According to the police, Jannatul went to the residential hotel with a person named Rezaul Karim Reza, and they presented themselves as husband and wife. After that, it was alleged that Rezaul, Jannatul's boyfriend who presented himself as her husband, murdered the woman doctor by slitting her throat, and ran away. The police have started an operation to arrest Rezaul.

On Wednesday (August 10), the police recovered the body of the female doctor from the residential hotel named Family Service Apartment at Panthpath after getting information at around 9:30 pm. Last night Kalabagan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Saiful Islam confirmed this information to Jago News.

He said that two of them (Jannatul and Rezaul) checked in to the residential hotel named Family Service Apartment as husband and wife. Later that night when the police were informed, the body of Jannatul Naeem was recovered from the bed of room number 305 on the fourth floor of the hotel with throat slit. The body of the deceased has multiple scars. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police visited the spot and collected evidence.

Quoting Jannatul's family, the police officer said that the woman doctor passed MBBS from Moghbazar Community Medical College Hospital and was studying a course on women and gynecology at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The body has been sent to DMK Hospital Morgue for post-mortem.

The OC said that the family members of the deceased came to the police station immediately after the incident. Legal action will be taken after a written complaint on their behalf. Besides, the police operation has started to arrest the alleged boyfriend of the doctor.
