Five devotees die during Bishwa Ijtema's second phase

Dhaka, January 21: Four more devotees died on Friday during the second phase of Bishwa Ijtema in Gazipur's Tongi. With this, the death toll in the second phase of Ijtema stands at five.

In the second phase, Abdul Hannan (45), son of Abdul Jabbar from East Jurain area of Kadmatoli Police Station in Dhaka, and Borhan (48), a businessman from Bangabazar area of Gulistan in the capital, died on Friday midnight, while Abdul Hamid Mondal (55), son of Shukur Mondal of Gaibandha, and Mofizul Islam (54), son of Abdul Alim from Dhaka's Savar, died on Friday evening.

Mohammad Abu Sayem, coordinator of Bishwa Ijtema, said that Abdul Hannan of Dhaka's Kadmatoli police station, who had come to join the Ijtema, died suddenly while doing zikr during Esha prayer on Friday. Borhan of Gulistan died of a heart attack at Ijtema Maidan in Tongi at 11 o'clock on the same night. Mofizul Islam, a resident of Dhaka's Savar, died on Friday evening and Mofizul Islam, son of Abdul Ali of Barguna, died of old age at Ijtema Maidan on Thursday around 5:30 pm.
