Dhaka, November 4: Five people, including a driver, were killed when an ambulance collided with a truck in Kushtia. Another was injured. He was admitted to Kushtia General Hospital.

The accident took place at around 2.30 pm on Tuesday (November 3) in the Laxmipur area of ​​the Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway.

Islami University Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman Ratan said the ambulance was going to Jessore with disabled people from Pabna.

On the way, the ambulance collided head-on with a BADC truck heading towards Kushtia when it reached Laxmipur area on the Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway.

Five people, including the driver of the ambulance, were killed on the spot. One was seriously injured. The ambulance was crushed.

The OC said the accident took place in Laxmipur area of ​​Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway on the way home with the patient. The deceased were identified as residents of Laxmipasha of Lohagara upazila in Narail.

The deceased were identified as Tipu Sultan, son of Shafi Uddin Mollah of Laxmipasha village in Lohagarh upazila of Narail, Mofiz Uddin, son of Abdus Sattar, Arbi Begum, wife of Mofiz Uddin, their son Ifat and Ali Ahmed, son of Kashem Ali Sheikh of Birampur area of ​​Jessore Kotwali police station. Kashem Ali's son Insan Ali was seriously injured.

According to the police, the family members were going to Narail in an ambulance with a female patient after treatment from Pabna Mental Hospital.

On the way, the ambulance collided head-on with a BADC truck coming from the opposite direction near the Eleventh Mile Bridge in Bittipara and Laxmipur areas.

The ambulance driver Mofiz, his colleague Tipu and three of his relatives including the patient died on the spot.

The patient's relative Insan Ali was seriously injured. He was admitted to Kushtia General Hospital in critical condition.
