Five million Covid-19 vaccines to arrive from India today

Dhaka, January 25: Another 5 million (50 lakh) vaccines bought from India will arrive in the country on Monday. All preparations have already been made to keep and distribute these seven million vaccines, including two million as gifts from the Government of India.

According to the Department of Health on Sunday, 5 million doses of vaccine will arrive in the country at 11:30 on Monday. It will then be kept in the warehouse of Beximco Pharmaceuticals in Gazipur. It was informed at a press conference on January 11 that the vaccine provider in Bangladesh will stay at Beximco's warehouse for two days.

From there, according to the list of the Department of Health, vaccines will be sent to different districts of the country. Registration will start from January 26. Vaccination will begin nationally from the first week of February.

Last Saturday at noon, the Secretary of the Department of Health Md. Abdul Mannan said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the virtual event on January 27 (Wednesday) by vaccinating a nurse at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital. On that day, 20 to 25 more people will be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

Then on January 28, Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital, Mugda General Hospital, Kuwait Maitri Hospital and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) will initially vaccinate 400 to 500 people.

Besides, vaccination activities will start from February 8 across the country. This 50 lakh vaccine will be given to 50 lakh people in the first phase. On January 20, 20 lakh covshield vaccines donated by the Indian government arrived in the country. Beximco Pharmaceuticals is supplying this vaccine called Covishield made by Oxford-AstraZeneca in India's Serum Institute.
