Five succumb to dengue, 440 admitted to hospital

Dhaka, October 28: The number of dengue fever cases is increasing in the country. Death is also increasing. 440 dengue patients were admitted to the hospital in 24 hours from 8 am on Thursday to 8 am on Friday. On October 23, a maximum of 1,034 dengue patients were detected in the country in a single day. With this, the number of dengue patients admitted to hospitals across the country stood at 3,539. Meanwhile, news of 5 deaths due to dengue has been received.

This information has been informed in the Dengue report signed by Dr. Md. Zahidul Islam, in-charge of the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday (October 28).

According to the report, in the last 24 hours (from 8:00 AM on Thursday to 8:00 AM on Friday) among the 440 people admitted to the hospital due to dengue, 279 are residents of Dhaka and 161 are from outside Dhaka.

According to the notification, the total number of dengue patients currently admitted in various public and private hospitals of the country has reached 3,539, including 440 new ones.

According to the information of the DGHS, a total of 35,262 people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue from January 1 to October 28 this year. Among them, 31,595 people have recovered and received discharge from the hospital. Five people died due to dengue in 24 hours. With this, a total of 128 people have died from dengue since January 1. The first death due to dengue was reported on June 21 this year.

During the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, dengue infection was not seen much, but in 2021, 28,429 people were infected with dengue fever across the country. In the same year, 105 people died of dengue nationwide.
