Five Transcom Group officials granted bail in three separate cases

Dhaka, Feb 23: A Dhaka court on Friday (Feb 23) granted bail to five officials of Transcom Group, who were arrested on Thursday (Feb 22) in connection with three separate cases filed in connection with money embezzlement, occupying of property, and illegal transfer of shares of the company.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shanta Akter's court gave this order this afternoon.

Those who have been granted bail are -- Transcom Group Executive Director (Corporate Affairs-Law) Md. Fakhruzzaman Bhuiyan, Director (Corporate Finance) Kamrul Hasan, Director (Corporate Finance) Abdullah Al Mamun, Assistant Company Secretary Mohammad Mosaddek and Manager (Company Secretary) Abu Yusuf Md. Siddique.

Earlier, in a separate case, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) requested that five officials of the Transcom Group be produced in the court and interrogated on remand for different periods.

On the other hand, their lawyers applied for bail after rejecting the remand request on behalf of the five arrested persons. After hearing both sides, the court rejected the remand request of each of the five. At the same time, the court granted bail to each of them on a surety of Tk 3,000 till the police report is submitted.

Former president of Dhaka Bar Association Mahbubur Rahman, current president of Dhaka Bar Association Mizanur Rahman Mamun, lawyer Baharul Islam and AKM Muhiuddin Farooq appeared in court on behalf of five officials of Transcom Group.

Earlier, three cases were registered in Gulshan police station on Thursday due to property related disputes. On the same day, PBI arrested five officials of Transcom Group from their homes and offices.
