Dhaka, January 26: Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder said, "There will be no food shortage in the country, there is no chance. If Allah doesn't take it into his own hands. In front of Boro, people are doing Boro cultivation like crazy."

Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumdar told reporters after the second session of the second day of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) conference at Osmani Smriti Auditorium in the capital on Wednesday (January 25).

He said, "During the drought before Amon, we thought there would be famine, no Amon etc etc. This time Amon has had a bumper crop. Collection is good, supply is good. Now government stock is 19 lakh 25 lakh tonnes, which was never there. Still collection. It is going on. We are giving OMS at the rate of 100,000 tonnes a month. There is no reason to be alarmed, I have said before. There will be no famine in the country, there is no chance of it happening if God does not want the famine. Boro ahead, people are also cultivating Boro like crazy."

This time mustard has been cultivated all over the country, he said, "I think this time we will get 30 percent of edible oil from mustard."

The minister said, "There is OMS, food friendly program, VGD, VGF etc. for those whose price of rice is unbearable. So there is no reason to panic. Everyone is fine."

He said, "Food waste should be prevented. It is seen that about 10 to 15 percent of food is wasted in a marriage house. It must be prevented. Sheikh Hasina's Bangladesh will be hungry. Cold stomach, cold head."
