Dhaka, September 20: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed the diplomats of the foreign missions about the situation arising in Bangladesh due to the ongoing shootings in Myanmar's Rakhine State and Dhaka's position on this issue. Diplomats have promised to report the matter to their respective governments. Diplomats of most countries attended the briefing organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but there was no representative of China.

Diplomats were briefed on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border situation at State Guest House Padma on Tuesday (September 20). Then acting Foreign Secretary Rear Admiral (Retd.) Md Khurshed Alam told the journalists.

Another official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that no representative of China was present at the briefing.

The Acting Foreign Secretary said, "We have told the Myanmar ambassador earlier about the situation of tension and loss of life on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border. First I told him, you take action, so that no shell from Myanmar comes to our side. Later we requested ASEAN countries to do the same. You try to use your influence on Myanmar so that their shells do not come to Bangladesh. A pressure should not be created on the people of Bangladesh."

Khurshed Alam said, I told the same to those who came today. Our Prime Minister also said that we are working with patience. Indeed we are working with patience. But we have not done anything for which Myanmar shelling will disrupt the security of life and property of our people who are inside the border. They cannot go out with their cows and calves, they cannot go to the paddy fields, they cannot stay in their houses; It cannot be allowed to happen.

Acting Foreign Secretary said, that is why we told them (the ambassadors), we want your help. So that Myanmar cannot create an unstable situation in the region and steal benefits in the future, so that the Rohingyas do not have to be taken back. Having said that, we are observing the situation with utmost patience and we do not want to get involved in any way.

He said, Myanmar will get a chance if it gets involved here. Will get an excuse for not taking the Rohingyas. We do not want to give any such excuse to Myanmar at the moment.
