Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 13 October 2023: Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen advised US National Security Adviser Jack Sullivan to spend money to deter China. He said this not only to the United States, but also to other countries.

At the weekly press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs raised the issue of the meeting with Jack Sullivan on September 27 in Washington. He said, "I told him that China cannot be stopped by your empty advice and commands and threats. Bring money to do that."

Momen said, "He (Jack Sullivan) told me he was trying. They understand the issue. He said, 'You brought it up at the Munich Security Conference and I watched it. I took the initiative. The United States to create a $200 billion fund.' He wants to give it to developing countries."

Telling the same to other countries, the foreign minister said, "We have told the big countries that if you want to contain China, then just giving orders and warnings will not help. We will not be able to use threats or advice. If you want to contain China, then Bring some money with you."

Regarding the situation in Bangladesh, he said, "We have taken a loan of only 4 billion dollars from China. It is one percent of our GDP. However, some scholars say that Bangladesh has become the backbone of China."

Regarding a media report that the meeting with Jack Sullivan was stopped midway, he said, "Those who write 'stopped' are in the heaven of egos, in the heaven of fabrication. The discussion went very well. The Prime Minister went to our mission to meet all the government employees, there was a portrait of Bangabandhu. Honoring – for those reasons. Then the very important US National Security Adviser came with the entourage and we welcomed him.”
