Foreign Minister falls sick mid-air, admitted to CMH

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, March 14: Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen fell unconscious mid-air while returning Bangladesh from Turkey on Sunday. After the plane landed in Dhaka, he was rushed to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH). He was admitted to the hospital after 3 pm.

He recently visited Turkey to attend the Diplomacy Forum 2022. Foreign Minister's personal official Shafiul Alam Jewel confirmed this information to the media. He said the Foreign Minister was taken to CMH after arriving at Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport on a Turkish Airlines flight from Turkey.

The Foreign Minister faced a schedule issue with his flight from Turkey. He could not sleep regularly. It was cold in Turkey, and the temperature was high in Dubai, all of which made him sick. After primary treatment he was taken to CMH. Jewel added that the minister is in a stable condition. The minister has been admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) as his family decided so.

Foreign Minister's brother ASA Muiz Sujan, chairman of Palli Shishu Foundation Bangladesh and Dhaka Delta Hospital Limited, said that after 48 hours of observation, the doctors will take the next decision regarding the treatment of the Foreign Minister. But now his condition is stable.

The Foreign Minister and his family members have asked the people of Sylhet to pray for his speedy recovery.

Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen visited the United Arab Emirates on Monday accompanied by the Prime Minister. From there, Dr. Momen arrived in Ankara from the UAE on Friday to attend a roundtable meeting of the Second Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey.
