Dhaka, May 7: Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar visited Dhaka on 28 April. Exactly one month later, he will attend the River Conference in Assam, India on May 28-29. Foreign Minister of Bangladesh AK Abdul Momen is also invited there. There is talk of a meeting between the two foreign ministers in Assam. After that, a meeting of the formal Joint Consultative Commission (JCC) at the level of Foreign Ministers of the two countries is being discussed in Delhi.

In this regard, Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen said that the JCC meeting will be held before the visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Delhi. However, there are plans for a few more meetings before the JCC meeting.

It may be mentioned that at the end of this month, the power secretary level meeting of the two countries will be held in Shimla, India and the meeting of the Joint Boundary Working Group will be held in Dhaka. Apart from those two meetings, the two ministers will discuss the outcome of other meetings, including trade and shipping, which have already taken place.

The foreign secretary said the date of the JCC has not been fixed yet. Talks are going on about it. Assam in May and JCC in June will be the fourth meeting between the two foreign ministers this year. Asked about it, he said, "It could happen. Relations between Bangladesh and India are very good and now the golden chapter is going on. '

It may be recalled that a meeting between the two Foreign Ministers was held on the sidelines of the Indo-Pacific Forum in France in February this year.

Asked about the JCC, a foreign ministry official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the two ministers had discussed the date of the JCC at a meeting on April 28. We are informed that Dhaka is interested in doing JCC in Delhi. "The date is being discussed between the two countries and we hope we can fix it soon," he said. "As all the important issues of the two countries are discussed in the JCC meeting, it is important that other secretarial level meetings be held and the two ministers will talk about the unresolved issues in those meetings."

Asked if there was a possibility of a meeting on water before Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit, he said, "We are optimistic. However, India has not yet commented on the matter."
