Foreign Secretary to visit Delhi to finalise Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Dhaka trip

Dhaka, January 18: Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen is leaving for Delhi on January 27 to finalise Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Dhaka on March 26- the golden jubilee of independence. At the same time he will attend the Foreign Office Consultation Meeting there.

According to foreign ministry sources, Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen will visit Delhi from January 27-29.

He will physically invite Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Dhaka on March 26, on the golden jubilee of independence,. If the Covid situation is normal, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will likely come to Dhaka on March 26.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a virtual meeting on March 17. Narendra Modi was also planning to visit Dhaka on Victory Day on December 16. However, the visit to Dhaka was not possible as the pandemic situation was not normal. That is why there was a virtual meeting between the two Prime Ministers.

Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen will hold a Foreign Office Consultation Meeting between the two countries in Delhi. He will also meet Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla. The meeting will discuss water sharing, trade, rail connectivity, coronavirus prevention and vaccination cooperation.

Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla visited Dhaka on August 18. At that time, he had a bilateral meeting with Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen. Last December, Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen wanted to visit Delhi. That tour was canceled as he was tested positive for the coronavirus.
