Former President Abdul Hamid celebrates Eid in his village after 10 years

Dhaka, June 30: Md. Abdul Hamid celebrated Eid-ul-Azha at Haor of his village Kishoreganj after serving as President for 10 years and 41 days.

The former president offered Eid prayers at his home Jama Masjid in Kamalpur of Mithamain Upazila of the district at 9 am on Thursday morning. He was accompanied by his elder son Kishoreganj-4 (Itna-Mithamain-Ashtagram) Member of Parliament Rezwan Ahmad Taufiq and other family members. Maulana Abu Taher led the Eid-ul-Azhar congregation at Kamalpur Mosque.

After the prayer, Md. Abdul Hamid visited the graves of his parents and relatives. Later, Abdul Hamid and his son Rezwan Ahmad wished the countrymen on Eid-ul-Azha.

Earlier on June 26 around 2.30 pm, he left for Mithamin by road from Kharampatti residence in Kishoreganj. After coming out of the house, people of different classes and professions greet him with flowers at the intersection of the road to welcome him. Apart from this, Haor's entrance was welcomed by hundreds of engine-driven boats in the Balikhlaghat area of Karimganj, where he was welcomed by Haor's Kamalpur house in Mithamin.
