Dhaka, May 29: Four earthquakes were felt in Sylhet in three and a half hours. The latest quake was felt at 2pm on Saturday (May 29). The people of Sylhet have become terrified due to repeated earthquakes.

Sixty-year-old Saleha Zaman, a resident of Khasdabir area of ​​the city, said that such frequent earthquakes have never been felt in the region before. However, she said, it was for the first time she saw houses shake.

Confirming the quake in Sylhet in four phases, Mahmudul Hasan Sohel, a senior observer at the Sylhet Meteorological Office, said the quake was felt in Sylhet in four phases. In the first three phases, the epicenter was reported in the Sylhet region and adjoining areas.

Muminul Islam, a senior meteorologist at the Dhaka Meteorological Department's Earthquake Observatory, said, "We have been informed of the quake from Sylhet station. Its origin is Sylhet. The magnitude of the earthquake on the Richter scale was 4.1."

He added that a magnitude 3 earthquake at 10:36 a.m., a magnitude 4.1 earthquake at 10:51 a.m. and a magnitude 2.8 earthquake at 11:29 a.m. were felt in Sylhet. Besides, the quake was felt again in the fourth phase at 2 pm. The epicenter was reported below the ground, however; no tsunami alert was issued. However, no damage was reported anywhere in Sylhet.

Alam Khan Mukti, a resident of Darshandeuri area of ​​Sylhet city, wrote on his Facebook status that the bathroom glass of his house was broken due to the earthquake. They survived the accident somehow.
