Dhaka, October 7: A Didar Paribahan bus leaving from Khulna at Gopalganj Sadar lost control and collided with a tree, killing four people, including a policeman. At this time, 10 more people were injured.

The accident took place at Chandradighlia upazila on Dhaka-Khulna highway at around 7:30 am on Friday (October 7).

The deceased are Abdul Alim (30) working in Barisal District Police and Zainal Abedin (22) of Bagerhat Sadar. The names of the other two were not immediately known.

Abul Kalam Azad, Deputy Director of Gopalganj Fire Service, said that a bus of Didar Paribahan bound for Chittagong from Khulna reached Chandradighlia and the bus lost control and hit a tree.

On receiving the information, the fire service personnel reached the spot and conducted a rescue operation with the help of police and locals. Three died on the spot and one on the way to the hospital. About 10 people were injured in this incident. The injured were rescued and admitted to Gopalganj General Hospital with 250 beds.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station Md. Nasiruddin said, in the morning, a Chittagong-bound bus leaving Khulna lost control and rammed into a nearby tree at a place called Chandradighlia on the Dhaka-Khulna highway. On receiving the information, the police and fire service personnel reached the spot and recovered the bodies of the victims and sent them to the mortuary of Gopalganj 250-bed general hospital.
